Worst Sales Strategy. Ever.

Yelling into the phone.

Seriously, I can hear you. You don’t have to yell. I have to doubt that strategy has worked.

“So this telemarketer called me and yelled into the phone. And I bought everything he was selling,” said no one ever.

Telemarketing by definition isn’t a good strategy. One that’s made even worse by trying to yell your case over the phone.

Used Car Sales[people]

Please, pretty please, stop selling to me like it’s 1988. Don’t grease your hair back, don’t be slick, don’t be quick, and don’t lead with a deal. Above all else, please don’t lead with a deal. Because if you lead with a deal, is it really a deal?

There are plenty of experts already leading conversations on this subject and I don’t have anything original to add. Except this plea. Even if your salesperson is a commercial or a Facebook post, if they are anything but sincere or honest we’ll see right through it. Some people might buy your product or service, but not as many if you had just been real.

To paraphrase Gitomer, I don’t want to be sold, but I certainly want to buy. All you have to do is figure out why I want to buy.
