If you’re not familiar with this type of “music” then you’re lucky. Allmusic.com defines Dubstep as “tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals.” In short, it’s not awesome.
Seriously, it’s like Dubstep is mad at the dance floor. It’s dance music for angry kids. Oh, and they do this silly dance called shuffling. Ugh.
The point? Music is subjective and a totally different experience for each person. I simply cannot figure out why my wife doesn’t love Incubus, and she doesn’t know why I’m not totally in love with Jason Mraz. Just because we can’t agree on music, doesn’t mean we can’t get along. Without laying it on too thick, think about the ways you judge friends, family, clients and prospects.
Music, movies, fiction novels, are all subjective interests with no real right or wrong answer. Someone doesn’t suck because they liked the Twilight movies, just like someone isn’t awesome because they read The Hunger Games before it was cool.
However, while talking about this blog with a coworker, another coworker came out and said, “Dubstep? It’s just not music.”
